WonderCon2009

Well even if New York ComicCon was the first convention of 2009, I do not feel it until WinderCon hits here in San Francisco.
2/27/2009 is Wondercon here in SF.......I am super excited this year as my bestest friend Burton Clarke is on the GAY COMIX panel for Friday 2/27/2009 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm.
5:30-6:30 The Birth of Gay Comix—San Francisco was a birthplace for underground comics. It was also a birthplace for the queer comics movement with a pioneering indie comic called Gay Comix. Edited by Howard Cruse and San Francisco artist, Robert Triptow, Gay Comix was one of the first comics to present stories by and for the LGBT community. Robert Triptow and early gay comics creators Burton Clarke (Gay Comix), Vaughn Frick (Gay Comix), Jeff Krell (Jayson), Lee Marrs (Pudge, Girl Blimp), Trina Robbins (It Ain't Me Babe, Wimmen's Comix), and Mary Wings (Come Out Comix) take you on a fascinating trip back to the '80s and the beginnings of queer comic books. Moderated by Justin Hall (True Travel Tales, Glamazonia the Uncanny Super Tranny). Room 236/238

I just have to say that I met and worked with Burton for almost 3 years before he divulged that he is an artist or comics for that matter. He does mostly free-lance and he has done past full pages for Gay Comix and for The Guardian which is a SF paper. He also makes his own Christmas cards all drawn by hand, highly highly detailed, and it is a thrill to see them every year. I would put up some of his work, gots to get the permissions on that though (stay tuned). However, please make an effort to attend the panel Friday night on Gay Comix!!!

Until next time.....
