2009 the DEATH of Reality Television!!

2009 the DEATH of Reality Television!!

After another wonderful 4 fun filled hours of Derek & Romaine and getting to know
alittle more about the new intern I turned my attention to my TV.

Well from my point of view, 2 of the most popular reality shows are IMPLODING!!!
Tonight on American Idol I literally heard the death kneel LOUDLY!!
Can you say Tatiana Del-Toro??
The screeching and false laughing and FAKE excitement is wayy too much to bare!
SHE MADE IT TO THE TOP 36!!!
Huh?!?!?! She made it through?? Trust me when I say that, cause the ones waiting in the
big room were shocked as well as I. What the hell is going on?
I can honestly say that this show wants to end, and not anytime too soon.
To make matters worse, Nick or Norman also made the cut; as well as,
head-bandwearingpiercedalltohellqueenedout Nathaniel is in the 36 as well.
I have now dropped this show from my Tivo......WOW more time for my Xbox 360!!

The other show I am mentioning is that long lasting Grand father of a show SURVIVOR!
Yes, I have been a fan and watching since day one and have never missed a season or
episode - even when at my comicbook conventions.
WHAT THE HELL? This is the cast this season? Thank the G-O-D that TVGuide channel
had that one hour special this past weekend of a preview and introduction of the new
castaways.
Boring, lame, lack luster, ummm is he gay?, not-bitchy-enough group of people this go round.
I am actually staying away from this show as well.....I am just tired of them picking these people
and expecting excitement or true competition. Who dropped this ball?

Thankfully there is a God-send on Sunday with Amazing Race, which has never let me down
season after season.; and this time there is a hunky Asian guy! Sweet!!!

Thankfully there is Top Chef, America's Next Top Model, Hell's Kitchen (Love Ramsey....hee hee Ransey).

I am done!

WonderCon2009

Well even if New York ComicCon was the first convention of 2009, I do not feel it until WinderCon hits here in San Francisco.
2/27/2009 is Wondercon here in SF.......I am super excited this year as my bestest friend Burton Clarke is on the GAY COMIX panel for Friday 2/27/2009 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm.
5:30-6:30 The Birth of Gay Comix—San Francisco was a birthplace for underground comics. It was also a birthplace for the queer comics movement with a pioneering indie comic called Gay Comix. Edited by Howard Cruse and San Francisco artist, Robert Triptow, Gay Comix was one of the first comics to present stories by and for the LGBT community. Robert Triptow and early gay comics creators Burton Clarke (Gay Comix), Vaughn Frick (Gay Comix), Jeff Krell (Jayson), Lee Marrs (Pudge, Girl Blimp), Trina Robbins (It Ain't Me Babe, Wimmen's Comix), and Mary Wings (Come Out Comix) take you on a fascinating trip back to the '80s and the beginnings of queer comic books. Moderated by Justin Hall (True Travel Tales, Glamazonia the Uncanny Super Tranny). Room 236/238

I just have to say that I met and worked with Burton for almost 3 years before he divulged that he is an artist or comics for that matter. He does mostly free-lance and he has done past full pages for Gay Comix and for The Guardian which is a SF paper. He also makes his own Christmas cards all drawn by hand, highly highly detailed, and it is a thrill to see them every year. I would put up some of his work, gots to get the permissions on that though (stay tuned). However, please make an effort to attend the panel Friday night on Gay Comix!!!

Until next time.....

What is Derek & Romaine?

Anyone who knows me, knows my love of Derek & Romaine........and then the question is asked: What is Derek & Romaine?

I can honestly say that after listening to Derek & Romaine (on SiriusXM OUT-Q - Sirius 109 and XM 98 Monday - Friday 6-10pm EST 3-7pm PST, http://www.derekandromaine.com/) for almost 6 years now I still am not sure if you can pinpoint what the show is. I suppose you can quantify it to a mish-mash of popcultureadvicecall-insexadvicefanboyfavesandthensome type of show. That still would not cover what the show is all about.

Just an example of a regular show week:
Monday :
Coffee Klatsch w/listener phone calls, mailbag with emails, peppered with guest, then Happy Hour!!!!
Tuesday :
Coffee Klatsch w/listener phone calls, peppered with guest, Tabloid Tuesday(self-explanatory)then Happy Hour!!!!
Wednesday :
Coffee Klatsch w/listener phone calls, peppered with guest, Dildo Whisperer (call-in sex advice) and then Desperately F*ing Angry (call-in with your rants & complaints).
Thursday :
Coffee Klatsch w/listener phone calls, What's Your Gay Problem(self-explanatory) peppered with guest, then Happy Hour!!!!
Friday :
Coffee Klatsch w/listener phone calls, occasionally FANCON (with fanboy faves), peppered with guest, then Happy Hour!!!!

That is all the TIP of the iceberg........there are "bots" of past guest and the host with choice or should say prime soundbites that are used all through the show. This is not NPR nor Howard Stern..IT'S BETTER.....baudy, krass, sassy and saucy is what Derek & Romaine truly is BITCHES!!!
If you subscribe to Sirius tune to Out-Q 109 or if your an XM subscriber tune to Out-Q 98 and see what you have been missing. Also if you do not subscribe to either login at http://www.sirius.com/ and click on listen online if you have a valid email address you can sign-up and listen (test-drive) the show for FREE for 3 days and see if you want to subscribe to America's FIRST Gay Radio station. I did and I have been a subscriber for 6 years now and not going anywhere anytime soon!!

Let's get this all started.

Well this is my first time deciding to do an actual non-MySpace blog. I was doing a running commentary on my MySpace for about a year and decided lets break that barrier and do this for real.
Mostly I am writing this as a testament to my 30+ years of reading and collecting comic books and having a ton of history in my head of characters and key figures from comics and cartoons. Some will think this is self-indulgent, which it is, what blog isn't. I just want to leave my mark on the web as I will not have any children, but my nieces & nephews will have fun reading what I write.
My whole purpose is to have some fun in writing what I would ask a comic book superhero and what their answer may be or could have been if they could have been asked.
Of course peppered in will also be things that are on my mind or stick in my craw and I need to vent.......sometimes even a nice inebriated rant after a nice fun night at Chevy's with my g-friend from work.......yes I mentioned you!

Anyway....please bear with me in getting my blogging legs. On with the bloggin....
